Naturalist - Now Hiring (10/12/18)

Length of Work Year: 10-month position, September 1 - June 30

Employment Type: Full Time with Benefits

Salary: $21.82 - $26.48/HR (Grade 116-Classified Non-Operations Unit Salary Schedule)

Summary: Under general supervision, enhances curriculum and exercises supervision over selected/assigned Sierra Outdoor School (SOS) classes and programs. Assists in developing class programs, layout, design of exhibits and instructional sites. Work may include, but is not limited to, extended hours in an outdoor setting, routine exposure to the elements, lifting, climbing, belaying, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, and bus driving. Provides general assistance to students, teachers, administrators and parents.

Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in science, adventure education, recreation administration, natural history or related technical field; supplemented by three (3) years experience working with students in a formal or structured setting. Minimum of two (2) years experience with interpretative programs preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Naturalist Substitute - Are you interested in teaching science and adventure education in the outdoors? SOS is accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year for Naturalist Substitutes who will work on an on-call basis to meet the needs of our education program. Qualified candidates must have experience teaching youth in a formal or informal environment, have completed a minimum of 48 college credit hours, have current first aid and CPR certifications and pass a pre-employment background check.
